QSB 3933 Research Methodology

 

This module covers the process and techniques of research, research design, identification of research areas and the preparation of research proposal. At first, we are going to think of a topic that we are interested in.  Research of two weeks’ time is taken in developing the topic precisely as it is needed to use for dissertation for our next semester. After we have done submitting our topic, Miss Myzatul Aishah has distributed us to the supervisor according to their area of interest. At last, I have been distributed Mr. Chiew Seng Khoon as my supervisor. In addition, we are going to submit research proposal and literature review for this module.

 

Miss Myzatul Aishah has guided us on how to propose a research proposal, literature review and interview questions. She always willing to help us when we met some obstacles in doing our research proposal, literature review and even interview questions. Besides that, we are able to make appointment with her if we wanted her to assist us individually. Moreover, I have been consulting my lecturer whenever I reach the bottle neck in deciding the suitable topic. She has helped a lot and provided me with some useful suggestions.

 

After we have been distributed to our own supervisor, we are encouraged to meet them as soon as possible to confirm with our topic. My supervisor, Mr. Chiew, he has provided us with useful resources that can help in our research work. I have decided the most appropriate topic for my research after a week of discussion and researching with my supervising tutor. The topic I have chosen for my dissertation is “The Level of Acceptance towards Industrialised Building System (IBS) in Malaysia”.  In addition, we are advised to meet our supervisor every week as he is able to know our progress of work and we are able to consult him once we have any difficulties.

 

At the end of this course, I am able to identify issues, problems and areas of research, identify relevant data and information required for the research, develop data collection techniques, design research process and prepare research proposal. Besides that, I will also do my best for my dissertation next semester.
