QSB 3115 Measurement 5

 

This module covers civil engineering works, electrical installation, cold water installation, soil & vent pipe and sanitary installation, fire protection installation and air conditioning installation. I found the hardest topic among the topics above is cold water installation as it requires a fully understand of the drawings. For example, if we do not understand how the pipes run from the ceiling to a specific bathroom, then it will have difficulties in measuring.

 

For our mid-term test, we are tested on electrical installation. For me, there is not enough time to finish the exams on BQ part as it requires full description of the items we measured. Through this test, I know that I should speed up my speed in writing and shorten the time to think on a certain questions so long. I should proceed to the items that I have confidence to measure first so that I will not lose the marks on it.

 

For our group assignment, we are required to measure the earthworks drawings provided by our lecturer. We are required to submit the query sheet, taking off list, dimension sheet and Bills of Quantities. Our lecturer, Mr. Simon told us that all of our assignment marks are very good and this means we have understood the topic well.

 

In conclusion, I think Measurement 5 is not easy as it requires us to have total understandings about the drawings before we do any measurement. It is also very important for us in future so I will spend more time to study this subject in order to score well in final exam.
